As we have explained all along we are not PT's and we are not your typical "Personal Trainer". We train movement and provide neuromuscular coaching through movement re-patterning to address the body as an integrative whole.
A few months ago we did a presentation for Be-Fit Physical Therapy on a basic exercise program for runners looking to train for the Covered Bridges Half Marathon. We did not present on a multitude of exercises or provide an in-depth program for the integration and progression of multiple exercises. This would not address the unique individual needs of each person attending. Instead we presented on one single exercise that would provide a starting point for a beginner runner and offer the runner an appreciation on what they should consider working on to support their running program.
Mobility before Stability followed with Muscular Endurance to support a Sustainable running pattern.
Listen carefully to the Pod Cast below about ankle mobility assisting hip stability function, which I explained along will help support knee mechanics. No program or exercise is "cookie cutter" so start out simple then progress to the fancy stuff.
Take a moment to listen to the Pod Cast from Functional Movement Systems. This Pod Cast came out earlier last week and helps to substantiate my belief on how we need to be training and exercising active people for success's in what ever they choose to do.
Below is the Youtube video on the exercise we presented on. Feel free to email with any questions.
